I remember meeting up with Noah a few years back at my local 7 Eleven to sell him some nos GT bmx parts. He mentioned something about, "we should get a big LA bmx ride going".
I remember thinking to myself, Man.. good luck bro, thats like a job on its own.
Well fast forward a year later the man had pulled it off! After a few smaller test runs and meet ups this dude and the whole 4130 crew managed to get 2-300 heads deep to ride from Hollywood to Downtown. Since then, they've kept it rolling every 2nd Saturday of each month. My hat goes off to them for putting in that hard work to keep the ride organized. All for the love of BMX.
Ive been on a hand full of the rides myself and its real fun. Its like being 12 years old in the neighborhood again, but getting together with a huge Army of other kids from every other hood too. Bombing hills, running reds, stopping traffic, eatin' shit, etc.. just a flat out good time.
They have free raffle every month as well to keep it fresh. All you have to do is get a ticket at the start of the ride and make it to the end to hear the numbers called off.
This month FHQ has linked up with 4130 and is kicking down the prizes.. the main prize is a $100 gift certificate to the shop. We sell all kinds of stuff so it was kind of hard to narrow it down to just 'a prize'. Were also going to kick down a fat stack of stickers, shirts, etc.. to raffle and toss out at the ride.
Its going down May 14th @ 7pm so be there!
